about · bay-area bitcoiners
About this group.
A casual community meetup hosting in-person gatherings around the Bay. People come to talk about Bitcoin, ask questions, and meet other Bitcoiners. Newcomers welcome.
§ 02 — who
Who comes.
All kinds of people. Some are deep into Bitcoin already. Some are curious and still trying to figure out what’s going on. A lot are somewhere in between.
We’re Bitcoin-only by design — not “crypto,” not multi-chain, not “digital assets.” If you came expecting altcoin chatter, this isn’t that meetup. If you’re a newcomer who’s still sorting out what Bitcoin even is, you’re exactly who this is for.
§ 03 — format
What a meetup looks like.
Meetups happen across the Bay Area — libraries, bars, community rooms. Some are casual happy-hours. Some are short talks followed by Q&A. A few are hands-on — pulling out phones and sending testnet Bitcoin around to learn how it works.
Most are free. All are in person. It’s closer to a study group than a conference.
Cadence varies. The full schedule lives on Meetup.
§ 04 — what we are
What we are.
Bay Area Bitcoiners is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Meetups range from technical, developer-focused sessions to casual gatherings for newcomers. No fees, no membership, no formal program.
§ 05 — first time
First time?
Show up. You don’t need to RSVP, though it helps. You don’t need to own any Bitcoin. You don’t need to know what “sats” means or how a wallet works. Bring questions or just listen.
